RwandAir Boosts Fleet with New Aircraft to Enhance Reliability and Service

Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir, has expanded its fleet with the arrival of a new Boeing 737-800 on Tuesday. The aircraft, which seats 174 passengers, is the second of its kind to join the airline this month. The airline is also returning newly serviced aircraft to operations, with a third plane expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. These additions aim to reduce delays and cancellations, improving travel experiences for passengers.

RwandAir Boosts Fleet with New Aircraft to Enhance Reliability and Service

In recent months, RwandAir faced technical disruptions across parts of its fleet, temporarily limiting available aircraft and affecting flight schedules. These issues have now been resolved, and the affected planes have successfully returned to service.

RwandAir CEO Yvonne Makolo said :"RwandAir is pleased to have resolved the challenges to our schedules over the last weeks and to welcome our aircraft back into operation. We would like to sincerely apologise to all of our customers whose travel plans were disrupted during this period, and thank them for their patience while we worked on service disruptions. Together with the arrival of new aircraft, the strengthened fleet will enable RwandAir to improve reliability, strengthen our schedules, and deliver an even better travel experience to all our passengers."

The Boeing 737-800s are configured with 12 business class seats and 162 Economy Class seats and will primarily serve short - and medium-haul routes. Later this year, RwandAir anticipates receiving a wide-body Airbus A330-200, further boosting long-haul operations connecting Africa to global destinations.

These fleet additions underscore RwandAir’s commitment to modernising its aircraft and expanding its route network. By investing in both narrow-body and wide-body planes, the airline continues to focus on enhancing intra-Africa travel and connecting the continent to the world.
