Strategic Partnership Opens Wider Access to German Language Certification

A new strategic partnership between the ECL German Examination Center Rwanda, represented by Der Sprachen Hub – German Language Academy, and the Training Center of Languages (TCL) in Rugerero, Rubavu District, is set to create new pathways for students and young professionals in Western Rwanda to access internationally recognized German language certification, improve their employability, and unlock study and career opportunities abroad.

Strategic Partnership Opens Wider Access to German Language Certification

The collaboration is considered a major step toward expanding access to high-quality German language education outside Rwanda’s main cities, particularly in the Western Province where many learners interested in international opportunities often face challenges in accessing certified training and professional exam preparation.

Under the partnership, current students, alumni, and former participants of the German language program at TCL Rugerero will receive comprehensive academic and administrative support to help them prepare for the internationally recognized ECL German language examinations.

This support includes assistance with documentation and exam registration, professional coaching on the structure and format of the ECL examinations, and guidance on effective time management strategies that help candidates perform better during the tests. Organizers say the initiative is designed to ensure that learners are fully prepared before sitting the exams.

Another key benefit of the collaboration is the introduction of special early-bird discounts for upcoming ECL German exam sessions, which aims to make international certification more affordable and accessible for many students.

Dr. Phocas Niwemushumba, In Charge of Academic Affairs at Der Sprachen Hub and Assistant Director of the ECL German Examination Center Rwanda, said the partnership reflects a broader vision of expanding educational opportunities and strengthening academic collaboration in Rwanda.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to expanding access to internationally recognized German certification and strengthening academic cooperation to empower more learners across Rwanda,” he said.

Beyond helping students prepare for examinations, the initiative will also promote an exchange of academic expertise between the two institutions. This knowledge-sharing is expected to improve teaching standards, strengthen training methods, and increase the number of learners receiving professional German language education.

Mrs Marie Claire Ndatimana, a German teacher and exam coach at Der Sprachen Hub, who also became the first successful candidate of the C1 ECL German exam during the February session, emphasized that strong academic guidance plays a crucial role in helping students succeed.

“Quality preparation and strong academic guidance make success possible. Through this partnership, more students will gain the confidence and skills needed to succeed in international German exams,” she said.

The initiative is also expected to play an important role in improving employability among young people by equipping them with language skills that are increasingly valued internationally. German language proficiency can open doors to higher education opportunities, international scholarships, professional training programs, and employment in German-speaking countries.

Marie Grace Ishimwe, Administration Officer at the ECL German Examination Center Rwanda, said the center is committed to ensuring that candidates receive professional and transparent support throughout the examination process.

“We are proud to support candidates throughout the exam process and ensure that more learners can access transparent, professional, and internationally recognized language certification,” she said.

Recent success stories from the February examination session have already inspired many learners. Flower Ackdat became the first successful candidate of the B2 ECL German exam, while Egide successfully passed the B1 level exam.

Both candidates encouraged other students to remain committed to their studies and take advantage of professional coaching opportunities, noting that determination and proper preparation make success achievable.

William, Director of the Training Center of Languages in Rubavu, said the partnership will create significant opportunities for young people in Western Rwanda by enabling them to access quality language training and internationally recognized certification closer to where they live.

“"Our partnership with Der Sprachen Hub and the ECL German Examination Center opens new opportunities for young people in Western Rwanda to access high-quality German language education and international certification,” he revealed.

Learners studying German are now encouraged to register for the upcoming ECL German Exam scheduled for April, where early registration will allow candidates to benefit from special partnership discounts.

The initiative particularly targets students from Rubavu, Nyabihu, Karongi, and surrounding districts, strengthening efforts to connect Rwandan learners with global academic and professional opportunities through quality language education and internationally recognized certification.
