Rwanda and Egypt unions Strengthen Partnership on Pan-Africanism and Labor Rights
Rwandan and Egyptian trade unions have agreed to promote the spirit of Pan-Africanism, facilitate free movement of labor, remove visa restrictions, and enhance free trade of goods and services. These commitments were made during a week-long courtesy visit by the Confederation of CESTRAR in Egypt in mi-October, 2025.
During the visit led by Secretary General Comrade Africain Biraboneye, mining trade unions from both countries, affiliated with the African Federation of Miners and Minerals Wealth, met with a leading company involved in phosphate and salt extraction and processing in Egypt. The meetings focused on sharing expertise and exploring opportunities for collaboration in the mining sector.
The management of MSR Phosphate expressed strong interest in visiting Rwanda to explore potential investments in the country’s mining industry. Egyptian trade unions also committed to promote awareness of Pan-Africanism splity among their members.
The visit has opened new paths for cooperation, aiming to strengthen labor rights, facilitate trade and investment, and advance continental unity and development across Africa.
