President Kagame begins official visit to Azerbaijan
President Paul Kagame has arrived at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where he was received by Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov, marking the start of his three-day official visit to Azerbaijan.
On Saturday, President Kagame is scheduled to visit the Alley of Honor, the final resting place of Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev, to lay a wreath in his honor. He will also pay tribute at the Victory Monument, commemorating the First and Second Karabakh Wars.
The official welcome will take place at the Zugulba Presidential Palace, where President Kagame will meet President Ilham Aliyev in a tête-à-tête session.
The leaders will then join their delegations to witness the signing of new agreements covering agriculture, education, air services, trade, and public service delivery.
Following the ceremonies, both Presidents are expected to address the press and hold bilateral discussions with members of their respective delegations.
President Kagame and President Aliyev last met in November 2024 during COP29 in Baku. This visit underscores Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral collaboration with Azerbaijan.
